Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You – Ask What You Can Do For Your Country!

“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,” stated President John F. Kennedy in his inaugural address. It was a powerful, challenging statement to Americans.
In my opinion, there should not be a “grocery list” of wants from We the People to government, nor should there be a “gift list” of entitlements from the government officials to We the People.
During the last few shows on CSC Talk Radio we’ve been going through the campaign promises of the three leading presidential candidates, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President Joseph Robinette Biden and former President Donald John Trump. We will continue this discussion on Monday, April 15, 2024.
I believe we must understand the role of government in order to make good choices on election day. It is my opinion that Americans make their candidate decisions based on what government can give them, and of course, government produces nothing and can only give to you after it first takes from you.
“What is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern me, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this; you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.” James Madison
Of course, men are not angels! In these trying times, America’s government officials seem to be promoting evil, as they deny God and divide the citizenry. Government officials are obliging themselves as they delight in controlling the people.

We the People have an obligation to “control” our own government. When we shirk this obligation, or refuse to take active responsibility for it, then those who are in positions will assume power over all the people. Consent of the governed is a phrase from the Declaration of Independence. Our Founding Fathers believed We the People should, and ought to be ruling over ourselves; Independent from the king, and as independent people we should be free. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…
There is great power in those words. Power that belongs to the people. Thus, government exists only to preserve Liberty and assure that the rights of the people are not usurped. Government was never intended to be a Santa Claus of gift-entitlements. The only power government is to have is that power which We the People grant (consent) to it. Somehow, someway, we have turned our government institution completely upside down from that which it was intended to be.

Much of what our Founding Fathers believed was grounded in Biblical truths and laws. John Adams made the statement, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Morality and virtue are the foundation of our republic and necessary for a society to be free.
I try to remain optimistic in We the People. It is my hope and prayer that the American people will return to our “roots” and understand that our government institution has gone rogue with the want of power! The elected officials and their bureaucrats are taking great pleasure as oligarchy dictators. It does not have to remain this way.
Let’s be aware of our own responsibilities and study our documents, as well as what these candidates have in store for America, should they be elected. I will also address the recent Arizona Supreme Court abortion decision and what candidate Trump has said regarding it; a statement for which I disagree with him completely.
One man, or woman in a presidency position is not the fix! When We the People vote to Restore America in 2024, we will begin the journey to Bring America Home. ©
