I Was Born Into A Middleclass Family
Both sides of Harris’ family were upper-class political figures, with money and power.

Kamala Harris keeps making the comment that she was born into a middleclass family. Perhaps Kamala Harris lived with “middleclass” Americans, but she did not live as a Middleclass American. Upon researching her family, I discovered that both her parents were from very wealthy families in their perspective countries. (India and Jamaica) Harris traveled abroad a great deal with her parents, something most middleclass Americans are not able to do.
Shyamala Gopalan Harris, Kamala’s mother, was an internationally famous cancer researcher and the daughter of G.V. Gopalan, a high-ranking Indian diplomat from the Brahmin caste.
Kamala likes to identify with the black Americans; however, her family never felt the sting of slavery, in fact, Kamala is a descendant of a Jamaican slave owner; using slave labor for the family business.
In 2019 Donald J. Harris, Kamala’s father, wrote in an essay: “My roots go back, within my lifetime, to my paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (née Christiana Brown, descendant of Hamilton Brown who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brown’s Town) and to my maternal grandmother Miss Iris (née Iris Finegan, farmer and educator, from Aenon Town and Inverness, ancestry unknown to me). The Harris name comes from my paternal grandfather Joseph Alexander Harris, land-owner and agricultural ‘produce’ exporter (mostly pimento or all-spice), who died in 1939 one year after I was born and is buried in the church yard of the magnificent Anglican Church which Hamilton Brown built in Brown’s Town (and where, as a child, I learned the catechism, was baptized and confirmed, and served as an acolyte).”
Donald J. Harris, Kamala’s father, is a Marxist and, as a professor actually promoted and taught Marxism.
Both sides of Harris’ family were upper-class political figures, with money and power.
Shyamala was interviewed by Modern Luxury, in which she shared a statement from Kamala’s first-grade teacher, “You know, your child has a great imagination. Every time we talk about someplace in the world she says, Oh, I’ve been there. So I told her [the teacher], ‘Well, she has been there!’ India, England, the Caribbean, Africa—she had been there.” Do you remember Kamala’s line when questioned about visiting America’s Southern border? She commented, “Well, I’ve never been to Europe either…” that too was just another lie by Kamala Harris. Modern Luxury also shared a quote from “one of Harris’s Nob Hill friends,” which stated, “Her (Kamala) Brahmin background accounts for her ease around wealthy, powerful people.”
Kamala Harris might have lived with “middleclass” Americans, but she did not live as a middleclass American.
Being a true middle-class born American, I had to look up exactly what Brahim caste meant. India, unlike America, has “classes” of individuals and Brahim caste is on the tippy top of their leaderboard, for which Kamala Harris enjoyed much luxury.
Kamala might speak of middleclass but having been from Brahim caste, she cannot truly relate to those of us who were and remain middleclass Americans.
Because her parents took different positions throughout their careers teaching in universities, Kamala lived in middleclass America. I’m sure she has school friends growing up, who were truly middleclass Americans, unless they were from backgrounds such as she was. I heard that Kamala’s family had the luxury of a live in (or fulltime) nanny.
I too grew up with a fulltime nanny. My nanny cooked, cleaned, (she didn’t drive) she coordinated our family events (school, church and scout meetings). She did the laundry; she took phone messages, and she even disciplined me and my 4 siblings when it was necessary. She made sure we did chores so that we would grow up able to take care of ourselves. We called our nanny Mom, Momma, Mother and sometimes Mommy.
Full disclosure here, I was born in 1953 in middleclass America, in Kansas City, Missouri. My father worked at Owens Corning Fiberglas and my mother was a stay-at-home mom.
I was jotting down a few things that I believe to be characteristic of a middleclass family.
We were a suburb family. Not all middleclass families live in the suburbs. My mother didn’t work outside the home until I was in high school. Mom was a Registered Nurse and at that time went to work. (I was the fourth of five children)
I think of a middleclass American home as a home with a 2-car garage. Mom didn’t drive, so our family only had one car and a single garage when we lived in the suburb of Raytown, MO.
Our family never took family vacations.
When living in the suburbs, neighbors watched out for one another.
Most days there was laundry hanging out to dry in those backyards and there was a water meter buried in the front yard.
Like most neighborhoods, we had one grumpy neighbor. You know the type, no children and no patience for neighborhood children.
Saturday evenings were spent preparing for church the next day; Mom would fill out all our offering envelopes and we were supposed to have studied our Sunday school lesson. AND we watched Gunsmoke!
We went to church every Sunday.
Sunday afternoons were lazy. Sunday evenings we watched The Ed Sullivan Show and there were often Sunday evening events at the church.
We got new clothes twice a year. In the Spring, before Easter, we all went shopping at the large Sears and Roebuck’s store. My brothers received new suits and shoes, my sister and I usually bought new shoes and maybe a hat; Mom made our Sunday dresses. We usually bought new “tennis shoes” for the summer as well.
In late summer, before school started, we went shopping again and bought new shoes; school shoes and a few clothes for school.
During the school year, we walked about a block to the bus stop, where we rode a “beautiful yellow school bus” to school. (gas powered, of course)
We weren’t wealthy, we didn’t travel abroad, and we didn’t rub elbows with dignitaries. I did skin up my knees upon occasion, as most children do, when playing tag or hide and seek.
I remember going to three movies when growing up (drive-ins)
We saw; “Old Yeller,” “The Man Who Knew Too Much” when Doris Day sang, “Que Sera Sera,” and the last one I remember seeing was “Ben Hur,” with Charlton Heston. We never left the car for snacks at the snack-shack. Mom filled a grocery sack with popcorn and brought a thermos of coffee for dad; I don’t remember if she brought a jug of water or Kool-Aid for us kids.
Living as a Middleclass American was a good life. Perhaps we were not “rich” or wealthy in dollars and cents, but it was a good life with many simple pleasures enjoyed. I knew that my parents loved me, and I knew there were “house-rules” to live by; the family worked together to make a home.
Today’s middleclass America usually has both parents working fulltime jobs. With advanced technology and electronic gadgets, lifestyles are different today. Unfortunately, family chores are not as prevalent in the home and fewer families are attending church together or even eating dinner together. Busyness has replaced a simple life. Instead of the kiddos playing tag or hide and seek, they are playing games on the electronic devices. America’s youth are growing weaker and fatter for lack of moving.
Middleclass America is less in the middle these days due to bad policies, which have been thrust upon this nation buy politicians, who sent our businesses and jobs overseas. What’s left is regulated and mandated to such an extent that people can’t afford to even own a business. Our elected officials are now the elite in America. They continually spend tax dollars; tax dollars we haven’t even earned yet.
The policies Kamala Harris has practiced during her career as a politician and what she plans to do if elected president, (heaven forbid) will be the death of middleclass America.
When the working middleclass America disappears that will end this nation, as we have known it. There will be the wealthy class, such as Brahim caste in India, and the poor. The American welfare breadlines will grow larger and the bread itself will be less abundant; hunger will be a common problem in America.
The land of opportunity will fall victim to an elite group, for which Kamala Harris is a part of, and will continue to lead. She is very comfortable meeting with the very rich and famous, but a townhall with middleclass Americans is beneath her, and frankly, scares her to death! She believes middleclass Americans to be deplorable and the only “right” she defends for middleclass women is abortion! She wants abortion to be a federal law; think about what the “unintended consequences” might actually be!
Middleclass America is America! Our parents and grandparents worked tirelessly to earn a living and grow this nation. You and I have carried on that tradition. Middleclass Americans work in a variety of occupations that have helped America survive whatever challenges befall.
Save middleclass America – Vote Against Kamala’s Lies – vote for President Donald J. Trump …. And Bring America Home©.
