Thoughts On The Present State Of American Affairs

Americans once again find ourselves in a great quandary, for which debate is soon to run out. Albeit that many years have passed, and the world has grown with largesse here upon our continent and abroad in other nations and continents. Technology in just a few generations has taken us from foot, to hoof, to wheels and then motors, cars, trains and planes and even rockets soaring and satellites orbiting. The strides we have made in communication are beyond imagination, but alas, the news, which travels faster than the speed of light, enlightens us all diminutively. Propaganda and personal agendas hide truth and common sense; we are told to not question but simply accept the most ridiculous rhetoric they have to offer.
Americans, once strong and determined, even inspired by the words of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness, are now confounded and confused as to what that even means. How can Americans self-govern if they know not or care not of Freedom? We abhor slavery, yet we have voted ourselves into government serfdom. The saddest realization of this, is that Americans are completely unaware that they are no longer free, and Liberty and sovereignty have been exchanged for government social programs.
The present state of American affairs looks quite dim to many, for they see not a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, but they fear their own neighbors, they fear words, they fear government; I suppose we could say they fear life itself. Perhaps today’s Americans are simply too afraid to be free men and free women!
While there are many enemies to America, the enemy most to be feared is the enemy within. While it is true, the current corrupt “heads of state” have allowed an invasion of outsiders (by the tens of millions), the enemy we harbor inside our own minds is the greatest enemy to conquer. We the People, of the greatest nation that arose from nothing, traded one king for an oligarchy of kings, who now we fear. We created them and now we fear their power. I have often been perplexed at how humans could and would make idols from wood, precious metals or stone and then bow to them, but We the People have done similarly when we allowed “elected and non-elected humans” to reign as kings over us.
Before we can conquer the enemies who surround us, we must first conquer the enemy who is within us; our fears! When we do this I am confident that America will be victorious over the enemies who lead and surround us now.
“The sun never shines on a cause of greater worth, ‘Tis not the affair of a city, a country, a province, or a kingdom, but of a continent – of at least one eighth part of the habitable globe. ‘Tis not the concern of a day, a year, or an age; posterity are virtually involved in the contest, and will be more or less affected, even to the end of time, by the proceedings now. Now is the seed time of continental union, faith and honor. The least fracture now will be like a name engraved with the point of a pin in the tender rind of a young oak; the wound will enlarge with the tree, and posterity read it in full grown characters.” (Thomas Paine)
If in today’s America the affairs we are experiencing we can conquer for the sake of Liberty, such as our Founding Fathers did so few years ago, will not our posterity reap the benefits of our sacrifice? Will they not learn from our great follies and move forward to right such foolishness, which we have suffered and endured?
The future will be a glorious one indeed! History books will write the stories of the rising, the falling and the rising again of the Americans, who restored the Independence of this nation, for the sake of Free men and Liberty.
The kings of today are not satisfied to reign power over one continent, but they are ravenous for world power and in order to gain such, America must fall, and Americans must suffer as they have perhaps never suffered before. It is by dividing us that these wannabee kings gain strength. It is our unity that will be their ultimate demise.
When first We the People triumphed for Liberty we were confident in our God and in His Laws. We knew exactly from where our fountain of strength flowed, and we relied on it daily.
But alas, years and technology have grown us lazy and thoughtless of our God and His blessings. Americans must return to the Creator God and the Foundation of this nation. We must remember how we gained our Sovereignty and Independence, and honor the sacrifices that brought prosperity to this land.
“A government of our own is our natural right: And when a man seriously reflects on the precariousness of human affairs, he will become convinced, that it is infinitely wiser and safer, to form a constitution of our own in a cool deliberate manner, while we have it in our power, than to trust such an interesting event to time and chance. If we omit it now, some Massanello may hereafter arise, who laying hold of popular disquietudes, may collect together the desperate and the discontented, and by assuming to themselves the powers of government, may sweep away the Liberties of the continent like a deluge. Should the government of America return again into the hands of Brittain, the tottering situation of things, will be a temptation for some desperate adventurer to try his fortune; and in such a case, what relief can Brittain give? Ere she could hear the news, the fatal business might be done; and ourselves suffering like the wretched Britons under the oppression of the Conqueror. Ye that oppose independence now, ye know not what ye do; ye are opening a door to eternal tyranny, by keeping vacant the seat of government.” (Thomas Paine)
The wisdom of those who laid down the foundation of this nation should not be considered casually. Their words and their sufferings brought us years of comfort as a people and prosperity as a nation. Our Founding Fathers did put forth a Constitution, which is simple, easy to read and understand. Their purpose in this was so that every man (and woman) would be able to know and understand the workings of our government. It was laid out in a simple manner and format, yet direct in its intent to guard the God-given rights of man.
Whether it be the evidence of ignorance or the testimony of tyranny, so many in our America today see the inalienable rights as subject to man, and our Constitution as a living breathing document to be construed by pretended truths. I believe the reason for this is the lack of love of God and country. While they are selfish and want for power they value their own beings cheaply. Their pompous and pious need for power is repugnant to a free people and should be vehemently rejected for all time!
Today, America is at a crossroads. Will We the People choose tyranny over Liberty, laying down our sovereignty for temporary peace and calm? I say Nay! I shall not capitulate to a rogue regime claiming power in America!
As our Founding Fathers prayed, so should we too be kneeling before our God, begging His forgiveness and pleading for His mercy.

There are those who say that it was an experiment that men could govern themselves with the direction of Almighty God. But should that not be the way in which all are governed? Our rights (Inalienable rights) with mankind as their guardian, will always be usurped and the citizenry cast into vicious tyranny.
When the people accept their duty to govern the governors, our nation will once again be restored to its Sovereignty, and the people will again be free and live in safety!
Who will govern the governors? There is only one force in the nation that can be depended upon to keep the government pure and the governors honest, and that is the people themselves. They alone, if well informed, are capable of preventing the corruption of power, and of restoring the nation to its rightful course if it should go astray. They alone are the safest depository of the ultimate powers of government. Thomas Jefferson
Gleaning from the words of Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and many others, my thoughts of the state of American affairs are mixed with pride and fear. America is, or was established as such a unique nation, unlike any other. However, these are once again the times that try men’s souls. The one thing I can be sure of is that our beautiful America is in trouble, divided and unstable. Enemies of Liberty are in power. If we remain divided we shall fall prey to the tyrants, and they will devour the very soul of our Free and Independent America. It is my hope and my prayers that We the People will awaken and unite as a people once again, standing for God and Truth. Oh, that our hearts would yearn for freedom and arouse that spirit of independence that I’m certain lingers in the depth of our souls and yes, even courses through our veins.

Thus as it was then, perhaps it shall be again, that Americans must suffer and learn that the sacrifices of Liberty must be personal, and extremely so. It is then that We the People will truly know and understand the value of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
When Americans, We the People, have a common goal and argue only on the path and not the destination, when we return to God as our Creator, it is only then that we will Bring America Home. ©

Beth Ann: TY for your good insights. IMO the two primary obstacles we're facing are that most citizens: 1) no longer have the ability to do Critical Thinking, and 2) have drifted away from Judeo-Christian beliefs and practices.
The Critical Thinking part comes about due to our public education system teaching us the opposite (e.g., defer to consensus, listen to "experts," adhere to what is politically correct, etc.).
The second deficiency is traceable to a lack of Critical Thinking about why we are here, what the foundations of America were, etc.
