United We Stand, Divided We The People Shall Fall
The American Crisis – Part 8 of 14

(The American Crisis by Thomas Paine, December 23, 1776)
But, before the line of irrecoverable separation be drawn between us, let us reason the matter together: Your conduct is an invitation to the enemy, yet not one in a thousand of you has heart enough to join him. Howe is as much deceived by you as the American cause is injured by you. He expects you will all take up arms, and flock to his standard, with muskets on your shoulders. Your opinions are of no use to him, unless you support him personally, for ‘tis soldiers, and not Tories, that he wants.
(The American Crisis Continues by Beth Ann)
Before the line of irrecoverable separation be drawn between us…
We are a relatively young nation, even as we celebrate our 250th Anniversary of Independence.
United we stand, divided we fall. On this milestone anniversary of our Independence in the United States of America, surely we can put aside our differences and recognize how fortunate and lucky we are to be Americans! But alas, the chaos and riotousness in the streets of certain cities, with violence being directed at our government, does not indicate a healthy nation.
Your conduct is an invitation to the enemy…
It is obvious that the conduct and policies of today are invitations to our enemies. Open borders, violent rhetoric, the destruction of America’s culture and the perversion of her history, all reveal an uneducated, unstable and confused people. The Marxist-democrat-party lifts up the absurd and many weak-minded Americans fall for their rhetoric. Their voice of compassion is in reality a voice of complete destruction, an annihilation of our culture and our Constitutional Republic.
There is a great greed for power within this political two-party system. No good ever comes of such a pursuit. Corruption and fraud are now the faces of politicians and the bureaucracy they have created. They will protect the fraudsters (who are themselves) by punishing a young man who exposed the enormous fraud. There’s talk of legislation that would make such a truth in journalism illegal. The only journalist they will allow are those that read the scripts from the political machine.
As Lord Acton warned, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Unchecked authority erodes morality. As power increases, the likelihood of corruption becomes a certainty, often leading to tyranny. Pause and think about what this means, and how it has brought to mind once again those famous words of Thomas Paine, “THESE are the times that try men’s souls.”
In many ways the world has gotten smaller since Thomas Paine’s, The American Crisis. Communication is instantaneous, yet we seem to have less common sense and less understanding of what is actually happening. I fear the gravity of our division is more serious than we are willing to admit.
Our two-party political system is like a tug-of-war for power. In the tug of war, the Liberty for the people is not only neglected by the politicians, it is rejected.
“When once a Republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil.” Thomas Jefferson
Perhaps the fault lies with We the People, as we allowed ourselves to be lured away from personal sovereignty and independence, and snared into the web of bureaucracy with promises of security. Like a child who refused to listen when his parent warned him that the stove was hot and do not touch… we failed to understand and heed the wisdom of our Founding Fathers. Benjamin Franklin said, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
Liberty is always … always in the hands of the people, but first it must be a longing and a lust within their hearts. Do we weep for Liberty, which we have lost, or do we simply not understand the value, substance, and sacrifice, for which we once were made privileged? Or as Thomas Paine put it, “What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value.”
Value your Liberty and protect the Liberty of your children and grandchildren.
“Before the line of irrecoverable separation be drawn between us…”
Let us unite as Americans and…
